| Description: A Mordheim pal wanted me to work on this 100 Kingdoms figure to add to his Mordheim beast-man war band. 100 Kingdoms makes great affordable large sized figures, but the down side is that the models do not always assemble cleanly. This one had HUGE gaps between the left and right body parts. The arms had pegs that were way too small for the huge holes in the torso, so extra pins were inserted. Even then, the arms had large amount of “shoulder” above them. The client had lost half the spikes for the second shoulder guard, so I had to completely cover that one with plasticard and putty to make the larger shoulder guard. I added a smaller lower piece to cover the shoulder deformity on the side with the spikes. The back was pretty much smooth with a small ridge looking like the edge of some sort of barding, but it was the same level and texture as the back. Gritting my teeth because I had never tried such ambitious armor I added chain mail to the whole thing! I glued on a barrel because the client told me these creatures were notorious drunks. I added a shield to the front because the body there had a cavernous gap. The rear of the creature also had gap-oliosis. Coming from farm country it seemed weird a bull-like creature would be as smooth as a Barbie-doll back there so I sculpted anatomically-correct gonads and an excretory sphincter. After I did the initial work, the client said “You know it would be really cool if he were squishing someone.” I looked in the bits box and found a goblin head and pair of legs and a spare gobbo arm from Games Workshop. I sanded the backs flat and glued them down, then used green stuff to make the entrails, broken rib shards and skin flaps. Painting-wise, I used numerous internet searches (Thank Gods for Google Image search!) to get the hoof and horn colors right. I used scrapbooking archival ink fine point pens to draw the tribal tattoos.Scale: Plays in the 28 mm scale, but he's huge! 7" hoof to horn. |
