Dwarf female warrior with Urgrosh

Description of modification:

My friend Helen told me she was playing in a new D&D campaign and had a character armed with an Urgrosh, which was created by the D&D folks to be a special half axe/half spear weapon only dwarves could use. (See illustration on page 119 of the 3.5 players handbook)  Of course no one made a figure armed with one. I had several Ghost miniature female dwarves lying about. Ghost are not the best-sculpted miniatures by any estimation, but they are HIGHLY affordable and cast in lead so they are easy to convert.

I started by ridding her of the sword she was carrying. I used a battle-axe from the weapons bin, and cut the haft in half. I drilled through her hand so I could put a length of wire through it. Then each half of the haft had a hole drilled in it (A delicate procedure since the wire was over half the diameter of the handle!) I drilled another hole in the bottom of the haft to receive a spear point. Another spear point was added to the top and a hammerhead to the back of the axe, so this one weapon is made up of 6 pieces and 4 pieces of wire! A small Celtic shield was added and the figure became the envy of her gaming group.
